Objectives of C.H.A.C.R.I
After a final analysis of our survey, we found that an average of 10% to 20% of residences in Brockton, Massachusetts is Haitian and Cape- Verdian. The Staff of C.H.A.C.R.I began in the area in order to better educate people in the American community. We organize seminars of sensitivity to explain to the Haitian and Cape- Verdian community its role and duty. We began by recording them, working with the young people who represent the force and the future of the community. We supervised them, encouraged them to go to school, not to fall into crime and narcotics and to respect the Laws of the land.
Classes are provided for people who are eligible to become American citizens. We provide (ESL) classes known as English as a second Language. We believe the key to an open door is communication.
Our Priority is to assist the community to learn English as much as possible. We work on a program to help people find accommodations at accessible prices. We also devote our time to AIDS causes and other non-cureable diseases. Several other programs are yet to come such as,
1. Help for immigrants to work their way in the US society and culture
2. A refugees program, to help at all stages
3. Public services and Professional notary
4. After school program for children, focusing more on reading and writing skills
5. Program for children to help motivate them toward positve learning and constructive activities.
6. Translation services for all types of documents.
Our Organization is also managed by nine members according to the law of Massachusetts. These members are very competent, influential and acknowledge the need of our community. We are ready to assist whom ever on lawful plan, to understand their civics right in the US society. We organize seminars to allow other communities to remain active and to respect the Laws. As part of these activities run by C.H.A.C.R.I one of our objectives is to promote the civic rights of the Haitian community in Brockton. Our Goal is to educate our community about their rights and obligation to vote. In addition, we have a large majority of people ready to become American Citizens. We offer a program on civic rights, and duties.
C.H.A.C.R.I also started a program with necessary information for those, eager to integrate within the country and in the future, become American citizens in full term and measure. Our Organization aims not only at the Young and Adult levels, but also at the children of the streets for whom we should organize sports activities, we have sessions with information and prevention on diseases such as AIDS and other illnesses.
